Building the Ravenel Bridge

After all the photos I took, I've tried to arrange them in some order based on various topics I found interesting.

And a reminder from T.S. Eliot (East Coker from the Four Quartets)

Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion

May 23 2004, 6:30 am - placing the 3rd cable on the west pylon

A view from the Pearman - continued tower construction and building the 3rd set of stay cables

Platform and west pylon: Note the 3rd anchor and cable placement

Platform and east pylon: Note the 3rd anchor and platform extension

Elevator and exit ports on the west pylon: Any idea about what the ports at the bottom of the photo are all about? Perhaps the cables (tendons) are to counteract outward forces transmitted down the concrete "V"?
