Building the Ravenel Bridge

After all the photos I took, I've tried to arrange them in some order based on various topics I found interesting.

And a reminder from T.S. Eliot (East Coker from the Four Quartets)

Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion

Edge girders in place (left) and X marks the spot (right) - Anyone know what the X is for? - (Next day) Well it seems that this sign and its superposition under the bridge deck is a large frank goof. I apparently took the photo of the bridge with the X lined up perfectly with the underside of the bridge. It was cold, the wind was blowing and I was simply not looking at what I was doing. Nice lesson though. Its the accidents and sponteneous events that often are more interesting than what I plan.

This is a view of the gap between the east approach and the east gap.

Hmm - an issue of overlaying the traffic X marker with the bridge underside - Interesting what a cold morning does to my thinking.
