October 2, 2004:

West approach: Building the 11th cable bundle (channel side)

East approach: Completion of 10th cable bundle (approach side) east gap

Note the addition of the short beams on the cap (right bottom photo). The top photo was taken at 5pm Oct 02, the middle on at 8am Oct 03 and the bottom one at 5pm. Now the mystery is clear - they are joining the last two approach piers.

Waiting -

Oct 2 5pm: the cap is bare

Oct 3 8am: a beam appeared on the north side of the pier

Oct 3 5pm: Now its clear - the beams for spanning the last two piers are being positioned
