Building the Ravenel Bridge

After all the photos I took, I've tried to arrange them in some order based on various topics I found interesting.

And a reminder from T.S. Eliot (East Coker from the Four Quartets)

Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion

May 16 2004, 7:30 am - extending the span and adding another anchor
Last week revealed some of the construction details associated with the anchors and the supporting cables. This week, I decided to ride my bicycle (again) and see if anything happened. The early morning sun is such that morning photos of the entire bridge from the Aquarium are impossible - so afternoon photos will have to do.

Below are a few photos of the details of the west pylon. Note (left) the addition of another length of steel and the third anchor. (compare with the above photo showing only 2 anchors).
